This is a monumental piece, for Transformers history. In my opinion, if a corrected TM Scourge existed, this would have been a corrected version as well. Since this is a production sample of TM Scourge, and it still has the error, it is probable that this is proof no TM Scourge corrected version exists. It also stands to reason. TM Hot Rod was a major character, and an Autoobot. Kids loved Autobots and main characters, but a minor character Decepticon with an error on his box, kind of doubtful that they would correct it. This being said, I feel this is supporting evidence towards disproving the theory that a corrected TM Scourge exists. This piece is in totally case fresh condition, you couldn't find a better piece.

Note: there may be more points of difference that I have not discovered.

What makes this a production sample are as follows:

  1. Box was handcut, not machine cut
  2. Fracus' window has strait and not rounded corners
  3. Factory sealed tape is different than the normal type used on TM Cyclonus

This piece was obtained from a private collector. It was originally planned to be put in the Hasbro Museum, showcasing every toy made in the Transformers line.

TM Scourge - AFA Graded Back of Box
TM Scourge - AFA Graded Label #6008031
TM Scourge - Non Graded Front of Box
TM Scourge - Non-Graded Back of Box

Note: This TM Scourge received a "95" rating, the highest rating the AFA has ever given a boxed Transformer, and considering it's a pre-production sample, and effectively 1-of-a-kind, it's extremely unique. The sad thing, is that the inside toy sample was used as the ideal production sample that they modeled everything that came off the line off of, so when it got a "90" rating for the figure, that's pretty ironic. It's the most perfect example of a "100" figure possible. So in my opinion, the whole AFA rating system is a little flawed.
